Hyde examines several innovative cooperative relationships that developed between the executive branch of the federal government, U.S. military services, automobile industry leaders, auto industry suppliers, and the United Automobile Workers (UAW) union, which set up the industry to achieve production miracles. Charles K. Hyde is professor emeritus of history at Wayne State University. He is the author of Storied Independent Automakers: Nash, Hudson, and American Motors (Wayne State University Press, 2009), The Dodge Brothers: The Men, the Motor Cars, and the Legacy (Wayne State University Press, 2005), and Riding the Roller Coaster: A History of the Chrysler Corporation (Wayne State University Press, 2003).
The music is as fun as anything in Pirates or Mikado, and it has the "topsy turvy" feel that all G&S shows do.

Travelling with Jim Carlton, one of the heroes of this tale, he follows a team around San Francisco Bay. In much the same way as Buddy/Incrediboy wanted so much to be affiliated with Mr Incredible in Pixar's 'The Incredibles', so it would seem that the author has been hankering to be involved in the running of Fanderson from his mid teens. My school aged grandchildren also color and send pages from this book, instead of cards to relatives.
